Who We Are

We are lifelong equestrians who are passionate about sharing our love of horses. Riding and being with horses offer a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional benefits. But, above all, we believe that taking horse riding and horsemanship lessons is a fun and fulfilling activity that allows riders to connect with nature, experience the thrill of riding, and develop a deep bond with these magnificent animals.

Starting this program was a very personal venture for us. Horses have always been part of our lives through the good times and bad. There is something magical about these animals and their unique ability to see right through us. We’ve called West Cobb home since 1998 and seen many changes from farmlands to the current suburbia. There are limited options in our area to gain exposure to these beautiful creatures and for convenient, high-quality horse lessons. Thus, in 2020, we decided to acquire and build our facility, recruiting top talented business partners to make our lifelong dreams a reality.

The Academy

Rose & Crown Riding Academy at Lost Creek Stables is a boutique riding school conveniently located in the heart of West Cobb. We offer world-class instruction, from true beginners to amateurs, in a structured environment with priority on safety. Our programs include riding and horsemanship lessons, clinics, and fun horse camps. We teach Hunter, Jumper, and Equitation with elements of Dressage, which use the English style saddle, to young riders and adults.

Our facilities are brand new with a competition grade arena and talented horses. Our mission is to provide our riders with the highest quality education and experiences both in and out of the saddle to meet their riding and horsemanship goals. We are conveniently located in the West Cobb area (Kennesaw, Marietta, Acworth, Powder Springs, Lost Mountain) and less than 1 mile from Lost Mountain Middle School and Harrison High School.

What makes our program uniquely different is our teaching style and technical content approach both in and out of the saddle. Riders and horses work as a team and unmounted lessons are just as important as time in the saddle. We prioritize a positive reinforcement teaching style, using a pleasant tone and understand that all our riders are unique in how they learn. We teach a technical but holistic approach to riding, where we focus on using our words and bodies to communicate with horses. It is our priority to help students learn the skills to progress to their ultimate riding goals, whether our riders simply want to enjoy trail riding or be a top rider in competitive USEF rated shows, we can help!

Facility, Equipment and Horses

Our facility is licensed by the State of Georgia and Cobb County. Our barn was designed and built to high standards and quality. Our stalls use Comfort Stall Mattresses and are of larger size to improve our horses’ comfort level while in the stall. All our saddles are of high quality and are professionally fitted to each horse. (Thank you, Whole Horse Saddle Fitting, based in Canton!) Horses and riders perform at their best when they are comfortable.

We have two outdoor arenas with geotextile footing for dust control, stability, and impact absorption, helping to create a healthy riding environment for both the horse and rider. Our small round arena was designed for the beginner rider in mind by offering a contained area for enhanced safety, control, and opportunities for skill development in a supportive and supervised setting. Our large arena was built to high engineering standards for jumping, including underground drainage, irrigation to optimize footing conditions and professionally installed lighting for evening rides. We use professionally built ground poles, jumping standards and cavalettis.

We love our horses and go to great lengths to ensure their health, safety, and happiness. Our team of horses have great temperaments, skills and are great partners for our riders. Each horse receives professional training to progress their skills and remain in optimum physical shape for our lesson program. Please check out our horses and learn more about them on our social media channels.

Academy Students

We teach Hunter, Jumper, and Equitation with elements of Dressage, which use the English style saddle, to young riders and adults.

Our academy consists of private and group lessons at the same time each week as well as 2 optional unmounted lessons each month.

Unmounted lessons are also structured like a “class” where we focus on different topics and build upon skills to improve a rider’s knowledge about horses to improve their understanding and ability to form relationships.  The bond between horse and rider is important as they function as a team during riding.  Just like any other sport, you don’t partner up with a complete stranger and have immediate success.

Most young beginners start off in our private lessons, then when they meet certain skills, graduate to group lessons.

Privates are 30 minutes.

Groups are typically 60-75 minutes (no more than 4 riders in a group)

We generally recommend the minimum age for our program to be 8 years old, however, every child is different. We will take on younger students provided they meet some criteria. For safety purposes, young riders must be at least 48” tall, have the ability to process and execute voice instructions, and complete an introductory lesson to be eligible for our program. During the introductory lesson, we will assess whether the young rider is ready for our program.
